…Under 12s Against Sedgefield in County Cup Final!

Congratulations goes to our Under 12s after they won the Under 12s County Cup Final, which was played against Sedgefield Cricket Club on Sunday, 8th September, 2024.

Sedgefield were dismissed for 77 runs in 19 overs, with Bella Sirs the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3 for 3 off 3 overs. Josh Redivari and Messrs Hawkins and Campbell each chipped in with two wickets each, with the other Redivari brother, Jake, taking one wicket. We reached 81 for 3 wickets with just under four overs to spare. After Martin and Martindale had departed for 13 and 17 runs respectively, Ollie Wynne and Jack Liddell then steadied the batting with not out scores of 15 and 19.

Having won the Under 12s County Cup, (which is sponsored by the Red Sky Foundation : https://www.redskyfoundation.com), they now become Durham’s representative in next year’s Under 13s National T20 Competition. In order to reach the Final the Under 12s overcame Littletown, Sacriston and Gateshead Fell.

This County Cup win for the Under 12s is in addition to them winning the NYACC Under 12s League Championship. They won the title without losing any of their 10 matches, finishing 14 points ahead of second placed Marton. They also played in the Durham Cricket Board Junior South East Under 13 League, finishing an excellent second behind Seaham Harbour Cricket Club.

Danny Hawkins, Under 12s Team Manager and Coach, commented : “Winning the Red Sky Foundation County Cup has topped off what has been a fantastic 2024 cricket season for the Under 12s. In a very closely fought Final, played in unseasonal conditions, a very strong Sedgefield side pushed us all the way. Everyone has contributed with runs and wickets at some point as part of our cup and league successes. It’s been a real team effort. We now look forward to representing Durham in 2025 on the national stage in the Under 13s T20 Competition”.
